Some of our people - Case studies

Doris
“My son was very ill and was diagnosed with Typhoid Fever, but there was no money for him to take the full treatment. But with this job, I was able to take him to hospital ....and he was treated for the Typhoid. I'm very grateful for that because this has saved my son's life.

I can now help members of my family. .... We now have three meals a day and live a comfortable life.

I want to thank God for this great opportunity."

“When the war finally reached Kono in 1997 I had to run away with my entire family to seek refuge in the nearby bushes. The rebels eventually invaded our hiding places in the bush and I was captured and amputated on 28th April 1998

I was later relocated at the 'amputee camp' at Aberdeen Road. As of now I am presently residing at Grafton. My only means of survival (as a war amputee) was street begging in the city.

I am very proud of my job.... I can never go back in my life to the street again to beg for my survival. I can afford to feed, clothe and shelter my family.....”

“I got married to a very beautiful woman called Sylvia and we are blessed with a very beautiful kid called Jasmine.

I love holding my baby daughter in my hands.

This is a job that has helped us a lot, because life wasn't ... easy for me as a married man with a family. Because (of this job) I am able to take care of my family, pay my bills and do my best to help other people. ”
